7 Common Problems with 6.7 Cummins Tuner

7 The most common problems or mistakes, which people do when they are installing our products.

Tip: If you don’t know how to install our tuner, look here: How to install our performance chip.

Problem 1: Depending from what source you have ordered your tuner you possibly have to do an update before you start programming. Only tuners coming directly from us (racemeofficial.com) have latest updates on it, others from Dealers have been months on its way, laying a long time on their shelves and coming with old software to you. Use our new Auto Updater what makes updates easy: https://raceme.sichtbarerwerden.site/raceme-agent/

That only applies to the RaceME Ultra model. The other models like the RaceME Jun and RaceME Pro have same flawless software since 2015 and there is no need to update it, no matter whether it is coming from a dealer or directly from us.

Problem 2: Very important point is that you always use a power supply with min 40 amps for the time of programming. These flash programmings are actually absorbing current from batteries, even if you think you start with good power lets say 12.5 volts, current can drop below 12 Volts at the end of programming what then leads to a so-called low voltage programming. The big problem here is those old sectors are not erased correctly and an old code can show up what can make very odd issues.

If you have driven your truck for lets say 20 miles before programming and you have good batteries, there is low to no risk running into such issues, but if you do programming on your truck and the truck was not driven several days and one day in a cold morning you will drive, these issues can occur for sure. So better is when you always use a charger at flash programmings to avoid this problem.

Problem 3: Be careful by plugging all the parts and connectors together. Time by time we have the problem, customers insert the USB plug upside down into controller or screen what causes a broken connector.  So look twice to make sure the cables are plugged in the correct way. The cable connectors have a „B“ and a USB sign on one side of it, this side must always face to the downside of controller and screen. Never use force when plugging the connectors into devices!

Problem 4: The RaceMe Ultra comes with zip ties. Use the zip ties to fix the mini USB cable to windshield holder. In case the unit drops it hangs on cable and not on the connector. Take also care of all cables which are zip tied and not hanging free anywhere where you could rip them out of the connector by accident.

Problem 5: The Ultra controller has a second larger USB connector, this connector is only to attach a notebook in conjunction with our Warp program to do real-time programmings and software testing. This plug is not used to connect to screen.

Problem 6: Some customers are careful, not even trying to alter settings, here it is to say you really can’t harm anything. Of course, if you go with our default settings you are fine, this is the best on most trucks. But if you want to experiment and learning by doing,  here is the key, try what you want to try, especially with RT you can try so many different settings and you really have no risk. What we do not recommend for a daily driver and work trucks is a higher rail pressure. The risk of a broken injector body is never worth the little gain in power. That should only be done on competition trucks. So better stay away from raised pressures and use the stock rail pressure.

Always use our trans tuning!

Problem 7: Trans tuning is not the same as engine tuning; trans tuning helps your truck’s transmission to hold the more power and torque what your truck produces after programming with our software. So this feature is for a longer lasting transmission and will NOT shorten it’s life. It raises line pressure and alters shift points to help your truck’s transmission hold more power.

However, if you try a higher power stage, avoid full power shifts from 4th to 5th and 6th gear unless you have already upgraded your tranny with billet parts.

When using the highest stages you better upgrade your transmission with billet parts starting at flex plate, converter, input shaft, and billet drum and clutches. RevMax is the company we favor.
